THREADS OF LABOR
A LOOK AT THE INTERSECTIONS BETWEEN CLASS AND GENDER
In this piece embroidery is used as an intersection between class and gender, aiming to comment on feminine invisible labor by utilizing the statement- forward language present within short form digital content and spaces. Feminine patterning frames the pieces, to highlight the identities that produce sewn and embroidered works of art.
This Piece made it into the Cleveland Insitute of Art's Student Independent Exhibition and won the Karen Skunta & Company Design Excellence Award.
